Jake and Teddy continue to play well, but their team (the Red Dragons) continues to lose some very close games. They are 0 and 3, with losses of 12-8, 8-6, and 12-6. Jake has scored a touchdown every game as the Red Dragons Quarterback and both boys are playing great at Linebacker on defense. All of the kids are improving and it's very fun to watch them all learn the game.

Enjoy the videos.

Green Dragons defeat Red Dragons in season debut of the Junior Division of the Shanghai American Football League (SAFL)

Fullback Jaxson Barlow scored two touchdowns to lead the Shanghai Green Dragons to a 12 to 8 win over the Shanghai Red Dragons in the season debut of the Junior Division of the SAFL. Both of Barlow’s TD’s came on long runs in the first half as the Green Dragons went into halftime with a 12 to 0 lead. The Green Dragons’ second scoring drive was started by a fumble recovery by defensive lineman Joey Younkin. The Red Dragons closed the gap when quarterback Jacob Holloway scored on a short run around the right end. The drive was kept alive by a long fourth down pass from Holloway to wide receiver Connor Roe. Holloway then converted the two-point conversion to cut the lead to four points. The Green Dragons ran out the clock with a long drive to preserve the victory.

Other key contributors to the Green Dragons victory were Justin Fraser, Trevor Maizland, Joshua Darling, Karl Kelly, Kent Schwartz, Gavan Hahnenberg, Dan Llope, and Cooper Williamson. The Red Dragons were also led by Harrison Johnson, Michael Harris, Ross Clary, Collin Callis, Alex Handy, Ted Holloway, Tyler Strayer, Tucker Dunn, and David Neumaier.

Senior Red Dragons defeat Green Dragons in a hard fought season opener

The Senior Division’s opening game resulted in a Red Dragons (34–14) win over the Green Dragons. The Red Dragons were lead by running back Hiroki Sakomoto and quarterback Jack Freeman, as each player scored 2 touchdowns to lead their team to victory.

The Red Dragons did not take long to score with a long pass play from Jack Freeman to Collin Johnson, who dove into the end zone. The Green Dragons unflinchingly responded with a long touchdown run by running back Ellery Haycook, and a successful two point conversion. However, the Red Dragons came right back with a touchdown run by running back Hiroki Sakomoto. At halftime, the score was (14–8) with Red Dragons leading by eight.

The second half began with a first play touchdown pass from Freeman to Sakamoto making the score (22-8). On the ensuing drive the Green Dragons were forced to punt, giving the ball back to the Red Dragons, who would eventually score. The Green Dragons were undaunted and answered by putting together the most impressive drive of the game. Their well-balanced attack of pass and run plays were concluded with a great blocking job from the offensive line that enabled a 15 yard touchdown pass from quarterback Tanner Fraser to tight end Tristan Callis, tightening the score to 28-14. It was not enough to overcome the Red Dragons which went on to win the game.

Other key contributors to the Red Dragons victory were Josh Neumaier, Kris Neumaier, and Dillion Grundman. The Red Dragons were also led by Jonathan Pride, Billy Radlein, Declan Ferguson, and Austin LeBlanc.

The Senior Division of the SAFL consists of 13 boys ranging in ages of 11 through 14 playing 6-man football. The team practices every Tuesday and Friday evening at 5:00pm and plays games on Sundays at 12:30pm at the Shanghai Rugby Football Club (SRFC).
